Large Sycamore Branch breaks at TBOP Trailhead

November 14, 2024

A few months ago a crack developed in one of the large main trunks of a sycamore tree located near the emergency exit to Highway 41 from the trailhead at Three Bridges Oak Preserve. Due to the crack this main trunk and associated branches sagged down and hung over the gate and blocked the exit.

A crew of 10 from the ALPS Trail Crew came in and cut back the branches in order to remove the blockage so the entrance could be used by emergency vehicles if needed.  While there, the crew also picked up trash, remulched the planted oak trees, cut back dock along the fence line, and blew off the pavement to clean up the trailhead.  Thanks to the Trail Crew for their hard work!
