ALPS - Party for the Planet at the Zoo

April 20, 2024

ALPS volunneers set up a booth at the "Party for the Planet" event at the Charles Paddock Zoo at the Atascadero Lake Park to celebrate Earth Day!

ALPS had microscopes and magnifying glasses for the kids to look at leaves, flowers and other flora so they could see that there is a lot going on when you look "close up!"  ALPS had display posters on hand to showcase our properties and planting sites.

ALPS gave away 37 oak trees seedlings, both Live and Valley, to people wanting to plant trees on their property.  Besides providing shade to cool the earth, did you know one oak tree provides oxygen for 10 people while sequestering Carbon Dioxide from the air?  Plant a tree and help the planet!

It was a great opportunity to let people know more about ALPS and what we do in the local community to save open space, support our native trees, and provide education.

The ALPS displays, microscope table and free oak seedlings.
