Party for the Planet
April 22, 2023
ALPS volunneers participated in the recent "Party for the Planet" event at the Charles Paddock Zoo at the Atascadero Lake Park in celebration of Earth Day!
ALPS volunteers had a microscope and magnifying glasses so the kids could look at various leaves to see that there is a lot going on when you look "close up!" A Oak Tree board let the kids stick various wildlife on the board to show where they lived.
ALPS gave away three dozen oak trees (Blue, Live and Valley) to people wanting to plant more trees on their property. Did you know one oak tree provides oxygen for 10 people while sequestering Carbon Dioxide from the air? Plant a tree and help the planet!
It was a great opportunity to let people know more about ALPS and what we do in the local community to save open space, support our native trees, and provide education.
