Lake Park Native Garden
In the early ‘90s, ANTA planted a demonstration garden at Atascadero Lake Park by the Pavilion. The purpose of the garden was to give the public an opportunity to view a variety of native plants that do well in our temperature extremes. The original garden was first maintained by ANTA volunteers, and later by the City. In 2016 and 2017, Madrone Landscapes spearheaded an effort to renovate the garden. Trees and native shrubs from the original planting were retained, and new plantings were installed to enhance and refresh the garden. Installation occurred in 2017, and ALPS contributed funds and volunteers to help. Many other local organizations provided donations, and many community volunteers came out to help on two weekend workdays. Interpretive signage with more information can be found at the Pavilion.
